Product Care
Good wool lasts longer when you take care of it properly.
Merino wool naturally resists odour and doesn’t need to be washed as often as many synthetic fabrics. A little care goes a long way.
WASH LESS
One of the best things about Merino is that it stays fresher between washes.
After wearing your GoodSheep products, let them air out before deciding whether they actually need to be washed.
Less washing helps preserve the fibre, shape, and softness of your Merino.
HOW TO WASH
For best results:
Wash in cold water
Use a gentle or wool cycle
Use a mild detergent
Wash with similar colours
Turn items inside out where possible
Avoid bleach and fabric softener
If you prefer, hand washing in cool water is also a great option.
HOW TO DRY
Avoid high heat.
After washing, gently reshape your GoodSheep item and allow it to air dry naturally.
For beanies and mittens, we recommend laying them flat to dry to help maintain their shape.
Avoid tumble drying unless the individual product care label specifically says it is safe.
BEANIES
To help your Merino beanie keep its shape:
Wash only when needed
Use cold water
Reshape while damp
Lay flat to dry
Avoid hanging while wet, as this may stretch the knit
Store your beanie clean and dry between seasons.
MITTENS
For Merino mittens:
Wash gently in cold water
Avoid wringing or twisting
Press out excess water carefully
Reshape and lay flat to dry
Make sure mittens are completely dry before storing them.
SOCKS
Merino socks are naturally odour resistant, but they’ll generally need washing more often than your beanies or mittens.
Wash in cold water
Turn socks inside out before washing
Use a gentle cycle
Air dry whenever possible
Avoid high heat, which can cause wool fibres to shrink or lose their shape.
PILLING
Some light pilling can happen with natural wool, especially in areas exposed to friction.
This is normal and does not mean your product is defective.
You can gently remove pills by hand or with a wool comb or fabric shaver, taking care not to pull or damage the knit.
STORAGE
Before storing your Merino for an extended period:
Make sure it is clean and completely dry
Fold rather than hang knitwear
Store in a cool, dry place
Consider using a sealed storage container or natural moth deterrent
Proper storage helps keep your GoodSheep products ready for the next season.
A LITTLE CARE GOES A LONG WAY
